Tofu or Soy Paneer - FAQs
1. How to identify if Tofu is spoiled and what should be done in such case?
Spot spoiled Tofu instantly: Sour/ too pungent odor (foul or fermented smell), discoloration, or swollen vacuum packs clearly indicate spoilage.
Cause: These signs appear when tofu vacuum packs exceeds 5°C and experience temperature fluctuations, or stays unrefrigerated beyond 45 minutes. This might happen since we do not add any preservation additives in our Tofu.
Action: Spoiled Tofu must not be consumed and must be discarded.
We request our customers to report any spoiled batch number to us immediately.
Prevention: Always maintain cold storage between 2-5°C for the vacuum packs. Once opened, cook Tofu immediately. Oil, ghee, and salt acts as natural preservatives for Tofu in a cooked recipe.

2. How to refrigerate Tofu properly to prevent spoilage?
Store unopened tofu vacuum pack at 2-5°C or below in your refrigerator. Keep vacuum packs sealed until use. Once opened, submerge in fresh water and change this water daily, keep in refrigeration. Consequently, tofu stays fresh up to 2 days after opening the vacuum pack.
Always maintain refrigeration (2-5°C) post-delivery.
- What will happen when Tofu vacuum pack temperature gets warmer than 5°C or in frequent temperature fluctuations? Lactic Acid Bacteria, naturally present in Tofu gets activated and spoils the Tofu.
- What will happen when Tofu vacuum pack temperature gets below 2°C? Tofu gets frozen and turns brown stone-like. Although not spoiled, it will loose its texture. Such Tofu can be kept in water at boiling temperature and can be used as scrambled tofu recipe.
Note: Water visible in tofu vacuum packs is natural. It keeps tofu fresh in refrigerated condition.
DO NOT FREEZE THE TOFU.
